Chapter 13: .moon 10/29, other sites 11/2

UPDATE 09/20/06: Chapter 11 will be posted on dotmoon.net on October 1st, and on all the other major archives on October 5th.
UPDATE 07/23/06: Okay, I've decided to go over that 15-chapter maximum I'd set. Chapter 12 is just too long, and it breaks too nicely in the middle. So I caved and decided to go for more than 15 chapters. I'm not sure exactly how many there will be, it depends on how long the remaining chapters end up. What it boils down to is I now actually have chapters 11, 12, and 13 completed, with three more chapters to go (which may become more if the chapters are really long). And that is that.
UPDATE 07/19/06: Chapter 12 is now complete. Two down, three to go. ^^
UPDATE 07/03/06: It's been slow going for a while, but I just added three pages to Chapter 12 tonight. I've decided to assign designated writing periods to myself during which I will do nothing but write. This has been going well so far and I'm hoping I'll be able to make some real progress this way. I'm determined to finish AAO by the end of this year. Thanks for sticking with me. ^^ It's looking like the final five chapters of this fic will be extremely long (so long they could be two chapters each if I weren't set on a 15-chapter total), hopefully that will help make up for the wait! :D
STATUS REPORT:
See the new status post.
Against All Odds.
If you've come here and are reading this, that's probably what you're wondering about. WTF is up with me, anyway? Almost a year has gone by since the deadline I set for having this thing finished! There haven't been any updates since last February! What the heck!
Okay, here's the story. Last spring my motivation to work on AAO completely died. Not only that, but I lost all desire to write, period, for quite a long time. Still, I didn't want to let everyone down, so I forced myself to keep working on it bit by bit whenever I could manage to squeeze out a few sentences. Under those circumstances, it took me a reeeeeally long time to get anywhere.
However! Lately it's been easier for me to write. Sometimes, a LOT easier. I've finished a few new one-shot stories and I've been getting a lot more done on AAO than I have in months and months. I'm starting to feel like a writer again. I'm trying not to get too excited, since it might be too good to be true, but I think the spark might be coming back. It's been one good sign after another lately. Just last night, for example, I added over a thousand words to AAO.
Now, I have some good news and some bad news.
The good news: Chapter 11 of "Against All Odds" is FINISHED and I am halfway through Chapter 12.
The bad news: Chapter 11 sucks.
I'm not exaggerating here or being modest. It really sucks. It was written over months of pulling myself along by the hair, and heck, it's been a YEAR, I've completely forgotten most of the stuff that went on in the first ten chapters. My train of thought totally jumped the tracks and the new chapter is way disjointed from the previous ones. As readers, you guys deserve better.
So. What I've decided to do is finish the story completely before I post any more chapters. I've printed out the first ten chapters of AAO and put them in a binder where I can carry them around with me as I write. Once I'm finished with the last five chapters (there will still be only 15 chapters total), I'm going to go back, reread the entire story, and fix up the new chapters to fit in and include all the details that should be there. Then, when I start posting the new chapters, not only will they be as good as they should be, but the entire story will be DONE and you won't have to worry about me suddenly vanishing again and leaving it incomplete.
Until then, I'm afraid you'll have to make do with the AAO side story I've written and the occasional unrelated one-shots I've been coming up with. I hope you guys will stick with me on this. I am not abandoning this story. I give you my most solemn promise on that. I have no choice, however, but to ask for some more patience.
Thanks everyone.
