I aten't dead.

I wrote a fic. "Finally finished" is more accurate, but either way, ficness has occurred.

There is more to be said, but it will have to wait. Hopefully not too long.
dejana: (Something's Wrong)
My fic for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. I considered adding the original ending I didn't have time to write before the deadline, but in the end I got lazy. :P My recipient was happy with this version; that's good enough for me. :)

Title: A Tale of Two Suitors
Fandom: Futurama
Characters: Fry, Leela, Zapp
Rating: PG
Genre: Romance/Comedy
Setting: Post-canon, a few months after Into the Wild Green Yonder

Summary: Fry decides to propose to Leela, but when his best-laid plans go astray and Zapp Brannigan stumbles back into their lives, he'll be lucky enough to get another moment alone with her. Written for [livejournal.com profile] lozlan in the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide exchange.

Strange news, everyone! )

dejana: (As In Autumn)
Hopped on to check out the ol' flist and this meme over at [livejournal.com profile] csi_tokyo3 caught my eye.

"What are three stories/storylines that you never quite got around to writing or got halfway through and just stopped?"

1) Due Process. One of Neo-Queen Serenity's Senshi is being held prisoner on an alien world. She escapes with the help of another imprisoned soldier.

2) Blood Red. Standard Pluto/Endymion fare, set in Crystal Tokyo.

3) Waltz for Venus. Aphrodite is the top matchmaker on Venus until she falls in love with one of her targets, a general from Earth.

I have an entire notebook full of spare ideas I'll probably never get to, but these are the ones I actually started. I still hold out hope that I'll someday pick them up again, but it's most likely never going to happen.
dejana: (Neptune and Uranus)
I forgot all about [livejournal.com profile] sm_fanswap finishing. I can finally post this.

Title: Silent All These Years
Fandom: Sailormoon
Characters: Haruka, Usagi
Rating: PG
Genre: Angst/TAFF
Setting: Crystal Tokyo

Summary: Centuries pass slowly for the nearly immortal, and the years eventually take their toll. On a rare visit to Earth, Sailor Uranus finds the cracks beneath the surface growing harder to ignore. Written for [livejournal.com profile] generalie in the [livejournal.com profile] sm_fanswap exchange.

one day in a thousand )

dejana: (Spork - Robot)
I wrote this fic months ago, but it slipped through the cracks and was forgotten until just recently. I'm still not happy with the title and I'm not sure about the ending... I was certain there needed to be some sort of clarifying statement between the last two lines, but then I decided maybe I was being too heavyhanded and it might actually work better without the extra verbage. Does it?

Title: Beyond Measure
Fandom: Sailormoon (PGSM)
Characters: Nephrite, Motoki
Rating: PG
Genre: Angst (shocking, I know)
Setting: Toward the end of the series, while Nephrite is human and working at Crown

Summary: Nephrite finds it difficult to adjust to a world he never wanted to belong to, a world that seems to reject him as much as he rejects it. Fortunately, he is not as alone as he thinks.

he could have been free )

dejana: (Goddess)
I almost forgot - now that [livejournal.com profile] yuletide's over, I can post the fic I wrote. Unfortunately, it's one of those "forbidden" fandoms where the copyright holder doesn't allow fanfiction, so I can't post it anywhere but here, and I'll probably end up locking it down here after a while as well. Small fandom, so I don't know if anyone on my flist will be interested, but here you go.

Title: Ties That Bind
Fandom: "Chalice" by Robin McKinley
Characters: Mirasol, the Master
Rating: PG
Genre: Romance/Drama/Angst/that gloomy world I normally write in, you know ;P
Setting: Post-Novel

Summary: With the chaos of the faenorn behind them, Mirasol and the Master face a new challenge: Willowlands itself seems to forbid any romance between its Master and its Chalice. The land is as unsettled as ever, and there seems to be no solution in sight. To heal her demesne, Mirasol must face its fears as well as her own.

I won't have anyone but you )

I just spent the last two hours furiously typing like I'd never typed before. Curse my predisposition to handwritten first-drafts! Even cutting way down on reconsideration and editing time, my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide story was still 15 minutes late. >.< Happily, when I went to the admin comm to see if I was screwed, I read that they'd extended the upload deadline for an extra hour. Hoorah! :D

Of course, now I reread my assignment email and I'm worried my recipient isn't going to like my story. I keep thinking, "I should've written it this way or that way instead..." Argh. Too late now. Done is done and it is as it is. At least it's REALLY FREAKING LONG, maybe that will count for something?

But yay! Done!

Yuletide fic: DONE
Holiday cards: SENT
.moon gift exchange gift: SENT
Christmas shopping: DONE

I have a few presents left to wrap and label, but other than that, I'm in good shape for the holidays. :D I'll make some additional posts about stuff after I've iced my wrists. x_x
dejana: (Morpheus and Rose)
I'm going out of town for the rest of the week, so I'm going to go ahead and post this now. Thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] sea_thoughts for beta-reading. (I hope you don't mind that I passed on some of your suggestions, Sea-chan; we didn't have a chance to discuss it.)

Title: Troubled Hearts
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia
Characters: Caspian, Susan
Rating: PG
Genre: Drama/Angst
Setting: End of Prince Caspian

Summary: As her final days in Narnia draw to a close, Susan seizes her last opportunity. Inspired by the movie, but based mostly on the books.

You are not yourself )
dejana: (HP - Harry/Ginny)
Another overdue fic, but at least this one hasn't been posted anywhere before. I just sat on it forever during the editing stage. ^^; Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dark_branwen for beta-reading.

I still don't know where to submit these things besides FF.net. :\

Title: An Honest Proposal
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Harry/Ginny
Rating: G
Genre: Romance/Fluff
Setting: Post-Series

Summary: Sometimes, the perfect moment comes all on its own.

It should've happened somewhere else )
dejana: (Goddess)
(Thanks, everyone, for the supportive comments on my last post. I don't know what to say to you all, so I'm resorting to a general thanks here. ^^; I'll do my best. ^^)

I finally got around to submitting this to archives. I wrote it early last year for the first seasonal challenge on .moon. I still think it needs a chase scene... but after sitting on it for a year, I doubt I'm ever going to get around to it. ^^; So here it is.

Title: Last Loose End
Fandom: The Matrix
Characters: Mouse
Rating: PG
Genre: Angst/Drama
Setting: Pre-Film

Summary: Being unplugged meant giving up everything... but there was one person Mouse could never quite let go of.

Ali, come find me )
dejana: (Spork - Robot)
On my way home from work this evening, the thoughts running through my head went something like this: "Gosh, work was busy today. I didn't have a chance to squeeze in any writing time. I can't wait to get home and do that."

I was about halfway down the stairs when I realized what that means.

...zomg yay.

:D
dejana: (Default)
I wrote this the other day, for [livejournal.com profile] nephthysmoon.

I have some entries to post, but I'm not feeling up to it at the moment, so just this for now.

Fandom: Sailormoon (PGSM)
Rating: G
Genre: Angst
Setting: Post-series, alternate ending

Title: Otherside
Fandom: Sailormoon
Rating: PG (language)
Genre: Comedy/Crackfic
Setting: Canon timeline

dejana: (Pixelated Me)
I just got what I believe to be one of my favorite reviews. Short and sweet, but containing so much. I only regret it's for a story I will never finish.

Fantastic story. I--and a good many others--wish you'd finish this, though.
You've managed to finish Against All Odds (which has been printed out into a
3-ring binder and tucked away with my other favourite books, thank you), so I
have no doubt you can finish this one too. :)

You're quite a talented writer and to be quite honest I'm just waiting for
your first publication so I can pounce on it at book stores.

So many things about this made me smile in "aww."

1) She actually read Sailormoon: Eternity and liked it, and implied lots of other people did too (although I find that part hard to believe).

2) I'm not the only one with a hard copy of AAO in a binder (although it's currently in the hands of a friend, who I'm pretty certain will never read it *sigh*).

3) She'd actually pay for my original fiction.

4) She still has faith in me as a writer. :)

Most of this is stuff I've heard before, but something about this was just... special. It's hard to explain why. Maybe because I've been burned out for so long, to the point where I've been pretty certain people have forgotten about me. Maybe because I'm starting to feel I might be ready to write again. I don't know, but it was special. :)

As long as I'm here... there's not much of interest going on with me. I'm enjoying a bit of extra breathing room now that I've finished the Anime North fanfic contest judging and gotten voting started for the UFO Awards. Pretty soon I have to seriously start preparing for Anime North (the PGSM panel needed one more person so I threw my name in, I suppose I should finish watching the series then huh? ^^;;), but for now I can afford a little time to enjoy the decrease in stress. Of course, there are always things to be done, .moon bugs to fix and improvements to program, video to be edited, plenty to be stressed about, but for now I'm just... good. I've also finally gotten reasonably serious about eating better and getting exercise, because I'd really like to get "drop dead" off my list of Things to Do Before I'm 30. So that helps. Hopefully I can stick to it when I'm working nights.

Things are good. Boring, but good.

Still no Absolute Boyfriend, though. Tomorrow I'll go looking for it at the Source, which is what I really should've done in the first place instead of trying all these big-chain stores.

ETA: Okay, I'm not seeing [livejournal.com profile] papirini's posts on my friends page anymore as of this week. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
dejana: (HP7 - Neville)
My Cloverfield fic seems to have gone over well. I got six glowing reviews on FF.net, more than almost any other story in the (tiny) category. :3 Now I just have to get in the habit of responding to reviews, which never really became customary in the Sailormoon fandom but seems to be everywhere else. ^^;

I really do have a gift for fanfiction. Whether that gift will also apply to original fiction remains to be seen.

And now for some memes I got tagged on and hadn't gotten around to doing. They have tag instructions, but if you get tagged and don't want to do it, no biggie.

from [livejournal.com profile] vayleen

The Handwritten Meme

1) your handle/name/username
2) left or right handed?
3) favourite letters to write
4) least favourite characters to write
5) write "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
6) tag 5 people

from [livejournal.com profile] yellowallamanda

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."

1. I write a handwritten first draft of almost everything before typing it.

2. I know I'm lucky not to be one, but I can't stop wanting to be a BNF. -_-

3. My favorite sound in the world is the wind in the leaves.

4. There are certain words I really, really like for no evident reason. I intend to make a list someday. Two that come to mind at the moment are "planet" and "weapon."

5. I love having long hair, but I'm too lazy to do anything with it. Most often I just braid it to have it out of the way.

6. I love the smells of the various seasons. Not the items associated with each season, but the scents of the seasons themselves. My favorites are autumn and fall.

7. I'm a very lonely person, but I don't let myself feel it most of the time.

I tag a bunch of the new folks on my flist:

[livejournal.com profile] lexie_b
[livejournal.com profile] lunarkitten
[livejournal.com profile] sd_segara
[livejournal.com profile] ryou_lover15
[livejournal.com profile] serasaturn
[livejournal.com profile] tesh_chan
[livejournal.com profile] lunapitty

from [livejournal.com profile] preshrunken

1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your favorite song.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your lj with the answers to these questions. (Or leave a comment. Say if you want it screened)
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask others in your own post.
5. When others respond with a desultory comment, you will ask them five questions.

------------------------------------------------

1.) What's the one biggest regret you have?
That would be a tie between not saying "no" when he told me he considered me his girlfriend and asked if I felt the same way, and Otakon 2005.

2.) If you had to write for one fandom for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why?
If it's allowed, my own. >3 I've had a canon in my head for the past fourteen years that I'm constantly making up stories for. Someday it'll be a book. If that doesn't count, though, I'd have to go with Sailormoon. It's still the fandom I'm most inspired by, even though I'm ready to move on to other things now. I wouldn't enjoy being stuck in one fandom forever, but if I had to, I could write Sailormoon indefinitely.

3.) Who is your role model?
Ehee... if I have one, it's probably [livejournal.com profile] sache. ^^;;; All hail the mighty Fic Bitch? ahem >.> *hides* I'm sure there's someone else, but no one's coming to mind at the moment ^^;;;
(ETA: You know, the more I think about it, the more I think I don't really have a role model. There are people I admire, certainly, and would love to be more like, but I don't attempt to pattern my life off theirs or anything.)

4.) Do you have any weird quirks? What are they?
Mmm... I read the same favorite books over and over instead of checking out new ones. I go to the movies all by myself and it doesn't bother me in the least. I wear the same necklace almost every day. I haven't watched/read at least a third of the anime/manga I own. Sometimes I drive and drive in no particular direction just for the heck of it. And I find it incredibly difficult to convince my brain that the online buddy I'm meeting and their virtual persona are one and the same person.

5.) If you had to pick a movie to describe you or your life, which one would it be?
For the first eighteen years or so, that would be Never Been Kissed. God, that's dreadful to say. I saw that movie once and could never watch it again. Too much of a reminder of things I don't want to think about. When it comes to my 20s, however, there really isn't a good match. But I plan to write one. :3
dejana: (Ohayo Earth)
I had planned to write up a personal entry after posting this, but I stalled and stalled on finishing the fic, and now the personal stuff will have to wait until tonight. ^^;;

But at least this is finished at last. It's not posted on any archives yet, I'd like to get some feedback first from whoever might be reading that's seen the movie. I'll probably post it on FF.net tonight. Let me know what you think, if you would. :)

Well, I think I can say with certainty that [livejournal.com profile] sm_monthly just isn't going to happen. It's a pity, because I've been having a lot more fun with Silver Millennium ideas lately and I had really hoped to complete this month, but I'm so far behind now and not motivated enough to catch up. :\ (Plus, I really liked the last two ficlets I posted and I didn't get any comments on them. ;P Yes, an attention whore is me.) Sucks, but there it is. I just have too much going on right now.

On another note, I have a couple of fast bento lunches to share. ^^

It's been insanely cold here lately. I kind of miss the peaceful, overcast, snowy days of Christmastime. The days do seem to be getting longer, though, I saw some pre-dawn light before falling asleep this morning and a bit of dusk after waking up.

Tonight is my last night shift in this rotation. Tomorrow I'm off to my hometown, I've missed the holidays and a couple of birthdays and need to catch up with the people up there. Unfortunately that means half a day of sleep tomorrow, ugh. I've had a hard time waking up these past few days, so that isn't going to be fun.

I'm still aiming to finish the new main page and default theme for .moon in time for the site's secondary birthday this weekend, but as I've spent the past few days doing large amounts of nothing and now I'm going to be out of town, I don't know if that's going to happen. But at least I'm getting a few things done, even if they're not the things I really should be doing.
