Booooo, my geekiness needs work!

Here I am back at my job again...woo...boring old regular life has descended around me once more...although, it's about to get more interesting in a really sucky kind of way. And I just realized I never made that griping LJ entry about it like I meant to. I'll get to it eventually.

.moon got a few more AN-based signups. :D I suppose this means I should really get caught up on the site maintenance I've been letting slide since I lost my flash drive. ^^;;

And as a follow-up to my previous entry...

Okay, here's the issue of Otakon vs. Anime Iowa. They're the same weekend. Otakon is far, far away. And expensive. And was immensely disappointing last year as a con, especially given the distance and expense. The plus - lots of fun online folks going there. The minus - at this point I'd most likely be flying out there again, which again would mean a lot of money etc for a very brief trip of only a couple of days in which to see everyone. I'm on the fence on whether or not it's worth it just for three days of visiting among all the con craziness, especially since last year I saw all the ASMR folks for maybe three hours tops.

Anime Iowa, conversely, is nice and close, and my friends from my hometown may be able to go with me. It's also the parent con of my local con, so there could be more people I know going. So it's basically a matter of offline friends vs. online friends, and "Is Otakon really worth it?" Therein lies the quandary.

It's still only three extremely busy days though, which is the sticking point. AN was nice because I had a night before and a couple days after in which to hang out with Kats.

As for a day early... we're having Dos and Doug come up/down here a day early (Wednesday) so we can all go rampaging through the Philly area before heading down to Baltimore (there's already going to be a convoy of two cars, so we wouldn't be crowded with one more). You could absolutely fly in to that airport instead and do the same as them, crashing at Phil's house for the night and leaving with all of us the next day - namely whenver I manage to get back down to his area, most likely ;P

We could figure out some afterwards plans too if you wanted to stick around. But it's all up to you, we're just very willing to accomodate you if you want to go.

Well, it turns out that I may not be able to make it up there before Friday actually. Sucky, I know. But I will still be there, and we're all going to be crashing together in Phil's hotel room, so I think you'd still have plenty of time to mingle with people and do stuff together. Plus the room is supposed to be dirt cheap since we have a good number of people, and that should offset some of the high cost of flying.

Hmmm, now that's a rather tempting thought. I'll have to see how things work out, though, since I already suggested the Iowa con to my local friends and if they're able to go I'm not going to cancel on them. If they can't go, though...we may be on. :3

Being that I just added up my travel expenses for AN, and they're just about the same price I would've paid for a plane ticket, it looks like if I do go to Otakon I'll be flying. Not that I minded the driving for AN, it was a fun new experience, but Otakon would be a bit too far to go alone unless we needed the extra car or I was picking people up or something. Flying would be less of a time squeeze, too.

Still gotta check with my local friends first though.
