Nowhere and everywhere.

Aaaand I'm back. Again. From my hometown. Again.
The post-holidays up north were pretty good. I did some visiting of relatives and some celebrating of birthdays. It was a bit melancholy though because, where once were large gatherings, now are small groups. I did get a nice bag from my grandparents that is now coming to work with me in place of my backpack. I thought my AAO notebook would be too big for it, but no! It fits! AND my purse fits in there. This is some bag. o.o
Unfortunately I stayed up way too late all week, so last night I couldn't fall asleep until midnight. I designed my dream house in my head last night while lying in bed. And I had to get up at 4 AM for work today. Ugh. I am so tired, you have no idea. It's going to be a long few days until Wednesday evening when my five nights off start. And then it's .moon release time.
Since the opening of .moon is looming, I think it's time to clear up a few things regarding what .moon is and isn't.
1) .moon is not "The Anarchists' ASMR." It has rules, and they will be enforced, universally. I don't care if you're a BNF or a beta-tester or a chat buddy or my bestest bestest friend. If you break the rules, you will be justly punished. And many of the rules were decided by the consensus of the beta-testing team, so if you have a problem with the rules, feel free to tell me, but I'm not likely to change them.
2) .moon is not a new fanfiction.net. As far as the Library is concerned, there is some measure of quality control in place. Writing of all skill levels will be accepted, but proper use of the English language is required. There are also some general rules in place regarding what may and may not be submitted by whom.
3) .moon is not "hiring." I'm not going to set up a hundred moderators on day one. Moderators will be chosen when an obvious need for them arises, and for the most part they will be privately invited to join the staff when that time comes. Don't bother asking to be one.
4) .moon is all-fandoms. Really all-fandoms. "Rainbow Brite" may end up on there next to "A Christmas Carol." I originally envisioned the site as a Sailormoon community, but it's not that anymore. So you can submit work from any fandom you may be involved in, and it will all be on equal ground here. There are filters available in the Library and Gallery if you're interested in only one fandom.
5) .moon is primarily a fanfiction/fanart site. Original work is accepted, but .moon is designed primarily as a fanfiction community, with the artwork gallery thrown in for flavor. It has no online-family forums or role-playing forums, and I'm not planning on having any, at least at first.
5) .moon is a (permanent?) work-in-progress. I have a long list of projects and components I plan on adding to the site, so don't be expecting the whole nine yards at first. I've built a lot, but there's still a long way to go and lots more fun to be had with this. Small moves until we get rolling.
For those of you planning on staying up Thursday night for the opening (o_O), my time zone is Central Standard Time. I wasn't planning on opening the place right at midnight, but since some of you are staying up for it (again, o_O), why not? It'll open around 12 AM CST Thursday night/Friday morning. See you then.

Date: Jan. 3rd, 2006 07:56 pm (UTC)And don't worry, there's no rush to join, I wasn't expecting to do the midnight thing myself. I didn't think people would be THAT excited. ^^;; Registration will temporarily close at 100 members, but I don't anticipate reaching that limit for quite some time.
