COSPLAYERS PLEASE READ

I finally did a makeup test today. I've never worn eye makeup before, and I did this in a huge hurry, and I mean HUGE hurry. So be aware it's not as smooth a makeup job as it will (hopefully) be on Saturday. Also, I don't have any eyeliner, I'll pick some up before I go. But beyond that, I'd like a little feedback if you have a moment, especially if you do cosplay or acting or photography or anything that involves makeup for costuming purposes. Also here you can see some of my new wig, and the new choker I made and the lovely necklace the lovely Ashaela made for me. :)

Beware, fat cosplayer ahead, yadda yadda...



I forgot to put the forehead sigil on, but it's just as well since I was really pressed to hurry and do this without ending up being late for work. Up close... I dunno... but it's passable, IMO, being that in most people's pictures it's going to be a smaller size like this:



And it looks a lot better from a distance. ^^; I didn't put on my gloves for this photo, either, but I do have them and they do cover up my fat arms, thank goodness. :P I will also (hopefully) be making earrings tomorrow afternoon.

Comments/tips? Too much/not enough? Bad lipstick color? Etc? I'm a bit concerned about the wig, it seems smaller and thinner than the first one I made. :\ I may bring both to the con just in case. The bangs, also, need a little fixing, I didn't have time to do it today. And one of the shoulder decorations on the dress came unglued over the winter; I'll fix that tomorrow.

Black eyeliner is already on my list of things to buy, I thought I had some but I don't. The eyeshadow's all shades of gray and (supposedly) black, I kept putting more black on but it didn't seem to get very dark. I didn't have a lot of time to fiddle with it at the time. I'll remember to add more this weekend. :)

It looks goos...the one thing I would suggest is is a little darker on the shadow, especially at the outside corners of your eyes to help accentuate them....and suggest a highlight shadow (either a much lighter green or more likely a cream color) to go above the green to give both your eyes and brows better definition, as well as highlight underneath your eyes to get rid of any unsightly shadows that cons can bring on. I won't say anything about liner, as you already know...but I can't tell...are you wearing mascara in this?

It's actually black eyeshadow, for some reason it didn't get very dark and I didn't have time to try putting more on. I did put some cream shadow above it, maybe I didn't use enough of that either. I am wearing mascara, but I think it's a medium shade, maybe I need some darker stuff?

Ah black....you have to be careful with the black eyeshadow, especially if you go to dark..it could completely wipe out your eyes, especially once you put liner on. Might I suggest a dark brown shadow instead to keep that from happening. But I would suggest a darker mascara. I think that just because you were in a hurry, the highlight didn't show up well. Curiosities sake...what are you applying your shadows with...brush or applicator...(I am such a nosy make up artist....)

I think that particular lipstick shade of red really goes well with you. As for your eyes, I would agree darkening the eyeshadow it would be better. You can see it a bit up close, but from far away, it's pratcially invisible. I know you were rushed during this time, but just in case you needed another opinion.

I know this will sound odd, but darkening up your eyebrows with a pencil might be good. Also, right underneath your eyebrows, a very light light hue of skin tone brings out the difference between the shades of eyeshadow. Black is kind of a pain in the ass and never seems to come out the way it should -- one of my suggestions is an eyeliner that smudges -- Covergirl has some gel-slick thing that comes in a black. Also, blush is always handy. Btw, your nose is totally adorable and I'm jealous.

I do have a bit of green liquid eyeliner in my eyebrows to tint them a bit, it does darken them but I was afraid I was putting too much on. It's like suddenly ZOMG EYEBROWS! But I can add more if you think it should be darker. I did use beige eyeshadow under my eyebrows but it didn't seem to work. It seems the lesson here is more, more, more. More everything, ne?

I hesitate to use blush because my face is pretty red naturally. I like the red being gone, I don't want to add more on! ^^;;

Well, there are a lot of very pale blushes, which is generally what I go for, are you using a powder as well?

I just spent waaaay too much time in the makeup aisle trying to pick eyeliner and mascara alone, so I don't think I should try to add blush without help. I'm horrible at picking out makeup. x_x
