Gotta remember to do that drabble alphabet meme...
So, my week. Last week was my long break when I go up to my hometown, but I delayed the trip a day because it was my dad's birthday. We went to a movie and then I bought everyone dinner at the Rainforest Cafe in the MOA. That's something I won't be doing often... lucky I still had some holiday pay left... @_@
I spent Thursday through Sunday morning up north, where I caught a cold from my best friend's mom. Ughness. So I've been sick the past few days, but I think today will be the last bad day, I should be feeling better starting tomorrow. Too bad I'm working these three nights. x_x I HATE having to work when I'm sick, because of the way I get colds - my eyes water, which is a royal pain, and I have this harsh cough that sounds horrible. I've always coughed that way ever since I had bronchitis in elementary school, so it doesn't worry me, but every time I get it I have to deal with all the "Oh my god! Are you okay??" Yes, I know it sounds awful. It's just the way I cough. Leemee lone. -_-
Anyway, I got back to the bookstore in my hometown's mall and picked up the manga I'd been wanting since my last trip - Someday's Dreamers and the first couple volumes of Death Note. I've started Someday's Dreamers... I think I like the anime better.
Had to tell my best friend about the heart medication I've been taking, and man, I haven't seen such a stricken face on her since the day she thought I'd drowned in the lake. I did my best to act like it was no big deal, but she was worried. :\ I feel bad about that... she's been having a rough time of things for a long while and I'm one of the few constants in her life, it sucks to weaken that image of being a solid dependable rock. :(
Speaking of the medication, it's almost gone, so I made an appointment to see my doctor next week. I'm not sure if I want to keep taking this stuff... I'm not confident it's really making that much of a difference anymore. My body doesn't like to be forced to behave, it likes to rebel. The pills run out a couple days before my appointment so we'll see if there's a significant difference between meds and no meds.
I came back early Sunday for a Detour meeting. The drabble contest was announced, and once we got past the "WTF is a drabble?" reaction the response was positive. xD Still trying to dig up another judge, but there are a few people on the fanfic panel I can ask if I can't find someone on my own. The "Iron Pen" name is probably going to stay, I wasn't able to come up with anything better. Still gotta decide on a prize.
I finally found out who
rhythmellon is, and it turned out he's someone I've seen around a lot and talked to several times without ever making the connection. Isn't that the worst? ^^;; Online-offline friendships can be weird like that. I definitely won't forget from now on! Got some CDs from him in exchange for mine, I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet but I have a feeling I'll have some great new writing music. :)
After the meeting was the Great PS2 Adventure. I'd finally made up my mind to get DDR, and since the price of PS2s recently went down a bit it seemed like the perfect time. Unfortunately it was also the perfect time for a lot of other people. All the big box stores in my hometown were out, and when I got back to the cities I had to go to a few Targets before I finally got my hands on one. And then I had to go back later for memory cards, since I totally spaced that I'd need one. -_- This is my first video game system since the 8-bit Nintendo, how about that? xD Haha...
Anyway, so now I have DDR Supernova. Too bad I'm too sick with this cold to feel like playing. ;_;

Date: Jan. 31st, 2007 02:33 am (UTC)Alot of times you won't necessarily feel like it's helping when in actuality it is. Then when you quit taking it there can be side effects. When my little guy switched from enalapril to propranolol he had hot and cold flashes for about a week until his system adjusted. He takes his for blood pressure.
Just be careful. :)

Date: Jan. 31st, 2007 06:15 am (UTC)As for the Drabble contest, that might be enjoyable to see. In fact I might participate in it.
Also... I am now the proud owner of a PS2 as well. The Thinline model.
It's TEH SEKZ.

Date: Jan. 31st, 2007 04:32 pm (UTC)As far as the meds go...I know how you feel. I'm notorious for running out before my new stuff gets here...and thanks to a Medco snafu...I went without Advair for most of January. Overall...it didn't seem like it made a difference...but I did have two nasty episodes that may have been avoided if I had been on my full medication.
Is this a drug an experiment...or do they feel this will correct the problem?
