Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] wombat_socho. Looks like fun. Modified it a little since it wasn't put together well.

1. Grab the nearest book. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
That would be "The Prestige" by Christopher Priest, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sache. I also blame her for the $50+ worth of manga I also ended up carrying out of B&N with me. But that's another story.

2. Open the book to page 123.

3. Find the fifth sentence.

4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog.
The part of it in which I live is the wing where I grew up. [3] If there had been any preparations for the visit, Rosalie and I were not told what they were. The first we knew about it was when a car arrived at the main gate and Stimpson went down to let it in.

Wow, that was boring. Kinda like this book.

Manga? OOH! What kind?

Yeah, the book is... well, it's a good book, but it's certainly not an *exciting* book.

Reading the book is a lesson in why it took 10 years for it to become a movie. There's good stuff in there, but the style is not exactly engrossing. If it weren't for the movie, I'd be a) hopelessly confused and b) bored out of my gourd 90% of the time.

Manga... hmm, what *did* I end up buying? Chibi Vampire #3, Angelic Days #3, Trigun #9 and #10 I believe, and umm... something else that's not coming to mind at the moment. I wanted to start Death Note and Someday's Dreamers, but B&N didn't have them. To the hometown alternate chain store!

Hah, I also bought "The Little Book of Plagiarism." It was sitting on a display table and I just couldn't resist.

HAH. Okay, "The Little Book of Plagiarism" just sounds like it's all sorts of wonderful.

And Good luck on the Death Note hunt. It's a really popular series, so I'm imagining that your B&N was just *really* sold out. (You've reminded me, though, that I've earned a personal shopping day at the local Waldenbooks. *_* Joy.)

It's a little study on the practice of borrowing from fellow writers and determining where the line of plagiarism is drawn, I believe. I'm looking forward to diving into it once I finish ploughing through "The Prestige."

And ack! If there's no Death Note in that bookstore when I get to my hometown mall later this week, I'm going to kick myself for not buying it last month when I was there. ;_;

I tried to do this, and there were only four sentences on the page.

... I fail.

Yep, I'm a geek.

Had I not had a book in my backpack, the nearest one to me probably would've been some EDDE manual or something. I was at work.

I was (and still am) at home, working on a project for work. Mind you, it was because I'm reaching for the closest book to me as I'm sitting at the pasucomu. Computer book beside computer - makes sense.

Sigh. I'm such a geek.

Now that I'm home, the closest books to me are PHP manuals.
