dejana: (As In Autumn)
I'm stuck on my Tori Amos CD again. It's unbeatable when there's nothing on the radio.

Stole this meme from [livejournal.com profile] heavenly_pearl.

Tally of stories written: Eighteen fics, including the ones only posted on .moon and the lame pseudo-poem and a couple of horrendous things from my old days that no one will ever see again. Not including a bunch of in-process stuff.

My favorite story (of my own): Mmm...it'll probably have to be "Against All Odds," just because I've spent so much time working on it and developing long-range plans and subplots and things.

My best story: By general consensus, "Misconception." At this point I'd feel like it was blasphemy of some kind of say anything else. I do have to also mention "Green Bird Eulogy," however, since I think that's still the one I've worked hardest on to date. My dad was going to be reading it, so I chose my words a lot more carefully and worked at it until it was as perfect as I could make it, which I rarely do for Sailormoon stories (although I should).

Story most under appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: "Sailormoon: Eternity." It's based on all the tired old cliches you can name, and the beginning isn't very gripping, so it gets passed over by just about everybody. But darn it, after a couple of chapters it's some awesome sixth-season stuff, it really is! I still go back every now and then and reread the last few chapters just for fun. It's the only lengthy story I've written with the full cast, and action and intrigue and mystery and new villains and the whole nine yards, so it's high on entertainment value. But nobody cares, because it features an new Senshi. ;_;

Most fun story: Fun? Uhh... I write angst. Lots of angst. So...I think I'm kind of SOL on this one. Maybe "Golden Afternoon," in a pinch, since it's light and nothing bad happens in it.

Story with single sweetest moment: I had to finish the rest of the questions and then come back to this one, and even still, I'm not sure. Probably something in "Against All Odds," but I'm a poor judge of that sort of thing.

Most controversial story: That'll be "Misconception," since I utterly obliterated Chibiusa and overwrote her with an OC. I've gotten a lot of interesting reviews where the reviewers seem as conflicted between Chibiusa and Chibinaru as Neo-Queen Serenity was. There's some interesting discussion going on in a thread on .moon about which child Serenity might have chosen, had Mercury succeeded in finding a way to restore the timeline to canon.

Hardest story to write: Everything's difficult now that I get only the occasional fizzle of motivation, but even setting that aside, I think that'll be one of the new one-shots I'm working on, "Eternal." It's the first time I've ever had my beta-reader agree with me that one of my stories sucks. xD I like the concept, but I'm having a lot of trouble executing it properly. I'm reworking the entire thing right now using a slightly different approach to see if that helps.

Easiest story to write: My first story after I returned to the fandom, interestingly, now titled "Bittersweet Surrender" (formerly "As In Autumn"). Once I had the concept in mind, with the song lyrics to frame the development of the story, it was only a matter of how much time it took to type it up. It was beautifully easy to write and just as easy to revise when it came time to do that.

An irresistable writing meme, this time stolen from [livejournal.com profile] amazonqueenkate!

Post a line from all your works-in-progress.

*digs through folder* Hee, I ended up mostly choosing bits that have nothing to do the the real plot of the story. xD And I suck at individual lines, so you'll have to deal with short paragraphs. Nyah.

(one-shots)

Eternal

The other soldiers gather around their bewildered but happy new sister. I try to smile, but only manage a twitch at the corner of my lips. At one time, I was as excited as they are. At another time, I mourned, pitying them their new burden of duty. Now I feel nothing.

Night Star Shining
(Boo, I haven't gotten to the best parts of this yet.)

The very ground trembled with each strike of the unseen creature's weight, nearly throwing Nuiko's lighter feet off balance. She hoped it was only her imagination bringing the sound of deep, raspy breathing to her ears. What was that scraping against the pavement just behind her? Talons? Spikes? Something too horrible to be imagined?

(spoiler)

"Miss, I'm a bartender," the old man chuckled. "I've seen it all, and I've never seen a lovely thing like you come into a place like this alone unless she's tailing a man she's sweet on. That one, there?" he asked, nodding toward the (...) man (she) had been focused on. He sized up the (...) girl flirting with him in one glance, then gave a grunt. "Honey, he's a unworthy fool if he won't choose a goddess like you over that."

Schism

"Well, I think it's a wonderful idea," Michiru cut in, leaning elegantly on one hand with her elbow on the tabletop. "Haruka's just jealous that your masculinity is genuine, while hers is only feigned."

At this, the target of Haruka's banter changed. She whirled around in her seat to face her partner.

"That's not what you said last night."

"I'll say anything when I'm in the right mood."

And then there was Angua. At first it would be all well and good, a bit of diversity in the royal house to represent the variety of the city, moving with the times and all that. But eventually it would be said it just wasn't right, having a werewolf as queen, and it would turn out there were torches and pitchforks hidden in the tool shed all along. Vimes didn't know much about royalty but he knew plenty about people.

(multi-chapters)

Due Process

At one time the woman had been considered slender, and quite attractive, her perfect form the result of years of training and exercise. Now, although her labors in the mines had built strength and muscle on her arms, legs, and back, the lack of nutrition and sunlight had dried the tissue to sinew and withered away all else. Her short hair, once full and shining with health, now hung limp and flat around her ears. She was a thin, pale ghost of a human being, her eyes sunken into a face that revealed her cheekbones and her hips and wrists protruding under her skin.

Fantaisie Sign

"Xing Mei!"

The woman in question winced briefly. She took a few deep breaths, but her heart accelerated until she felt as if it would burst through her ribs. Xing Mei did not dare look down as her gray mare carried her closer and closer to her doom, but she heard its approaching rapid footsteps and knew that it was him. That slim body sculpted by years as a carpenter's apprentice. That plain face brought to life by dark eyes filled with the glitter of stars. The half-smile always lurking at the corner of thin lips.

Xhao Long.

(And...eh, what the hell.)

Against All Odds, Chapter 11

"It is said the leader of the Sailor Soldiers can enchant a man with a glance." The teasing smirk played across Kunzite's lips like the trilling notes of the musicians. "I don't feel enchanted yet, milady."

"As I said, milord, we have only just met."
