That would be "The Prestige" by Christopher Priest, thanks to sache. I also blame her for the $50+ worth of manga I also ended up carrying out of B&N with me. But that's another story.

I was (and still am) at home, working on a project for work. Mind you, it was because I'm reaching for the closest book to me as I'm sitting at the pasucomu. Computer book beside computer - makes sense.
