Hrrrrm I don't have a good lyric right now and I gotta make this fast.

Yesterday I made bento lunches for the rest of my run of day shifts, plus one for my sister. I read on

bentolunch that Dollar Tree stores have Hello Kitty bento boxes for $1! These things usually cost around $15 online. o_o I rushed over and got one of each color, so now I have three for myself and I can make multiple boxes in one go. The pink box is for my sister. ^^

I had this one for lunch today. The onigiri looked a lot prettier before I tried to squish them into the bottom layer. ^^;;

For some reason my camera refused to take any pictures of the Hello Kitty boxes in focus. >(

I had a go at the little octopus cocktail wiener thing, but they didn't turn out so well. I'm not sure how to get the legs to curl up properly. Cut deeper? More cuts?

My sister's... I made hers first, and I wasn't sure how to arrange the octopi, so I stuck them on some cucumber slices, haha.

Wow, the bottom layers look really flat in these pictures. The Hello Kitty boxes are actually a little bigger and deeper than my Sogen box.

I think I like this one best. ^^

I had the onigiri box today and ate the onigiri nori and all, so maybe the flavor of nori isn't my problem after all. :\

You know, I had been thinking about making bentos because I don't take a lunch to work and it's starting to kill me (seriously, I don't eat all day and it suuuuuucks), and now you say there are $1 bento boxes at Dollar Tree? I must go investigate tonight.

Yes! :D They had blue, green, and pink at my store. I found them in the checkout aisle, but I've read people have been finding them with the kitchen stuff, with the toys and with the school supplies, depending on what the employees think they are, haha.

Let me know if you don't find any and I'll pick some up for you.

I found tupperware-style containers in the same sort of style but not the bentos. HOWEVER. There are two more stores within 10 miles so I am not giving up all hope.

I will, however, let you know. Since the first store had none and the second had tupperware but not bento, I am hopeful for the third.

These are kind of like tupperware, they have soft bendy lids and don't come with a bag or anything, what do you mean by "same sort of style"?

Can't beat the price, either, when I found out they were only $1 I had to get some even though I'm not crazy about Hello Kitty.
